Founded in 1993 the DSL is the leading organization
addressing the 50plus generation in Germany. The DSL is centrally
organized and based in Bonn.
Originally DSL was focused on age related diseases, such as Alzheimer's
and Parkinson's and rapidly became the leading non-profit-organization
in this area in Germany. Since the year 2006 DSL widened their
scope substantially, encompassing complex health , wellness, financial
services, sports, travel and education topics. This broad competence
range enables DSL to represent today’s modern, active 50plus Generation
in Germany.
DSL enjoys an outstanding reputation in the press and in the public
due to a multitude of campaigns concerning various subjects eg.
mobil communications or pension planing, always based on relevant
information with high credibility. DSL has thus established itself
as the reliable and trustworthy source of information for the 50plus
generation. The average annual press-coverage amounts to a circulation
of 500 to 600 million.
A professional staff led by the experienced Chairman Prof. Dr. Giso
Deussen, and Managing Director and lawyer Erhard Hackler, with a
25 year history in politics, ensure the quality and success of DSL’s
activities.
Prof. Dr. Ingo Füsgen, former President of the German Geriatric
Association, heads the scientific board. The board represents scientists
and experts in healthcare, politics and communication, also leading
entrepreneurs.
Due to the strong position in the German society DSL is frequently
asked to join hearings and meetings by federal and state institutions.
“Aktiv”, the official medium of DSL, is published a least four times
a year, with a circulation of 25.000 copies each.
In addition to current activities DSL also certifies products and services complying with standards appropriate to the needs and expectations of the 50plus generation.
